Beaches in Parksville

Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort is located in the heart of Canada’s Riviera and on a sandy Parksville beach.

If you love all types of beaches, this area’s 19 kilometers of shoreline are perfect for you. There are the wide sandy expanses of Rathtrevor and Parksville Community Beaches; the paved promenade and picnic areas of Qualicum Beach; or the beachcombing delights of Lighthouse Country. On Vancouver Island’s eastern shore, currents, and ocean floor topography combine to create wide, flat expanses of sand where low tide goes out for a kilometer. Long summer days warm the water to as much as 20°C and tidal pools are brimming with sea stars, crabs, and sand dollars.

RATHTREVOR BEACH

Sunrise Ridge’s Parksville beach resort is located on this beautiful 5 kilometer sandy beach. A short walk from Sunrise Ridge takes you to Rathtrevor Park, with its woodland and oceanfront trails, and picnic grounds. At low tide the ocean recedes, at times, up to a kilometer from the shore. When planning any sort of water activity at Rathtrevor, be sure to check a tide chart beforehand to ensure you time your excursion appropriately

QUALICUM BEACH

Four kilometers of curved sand beach, Qualicum Beach, in the town of Qualicum Beach, is rimmed by a paved promenade for hikers, bikers, and sunset watchers. The beach has picnic tables, trees, and a change-room.

PARKSVILLE COMMUNITY BEACH

North of Sunrise Ridge, this Parksville beach is home to an excellent children’s beach playground with swings, slides, water canons, and picnic area.

LIGHTHOUSE COUNTRY

At the northern end of Oceanside, Lighthouse Country is home to many secluded bays and the beaches become rockier – perfect for beachcombing. This area is home to the communities of Qualicum Bay, Bowser, and Deep Bay and two picturesque lighthouses.
